Leonard Henry Buschmann, 91, Vienna, passed away March 7, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 28, 1927, to William John and Clara Catherine (Zimmer) Buschmann, near Vienna.

He was united in marriage to Rosalee Catherine Blomberg, June 11, 1955, at St. Anthony.

Leonard was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 13178, both in Vienna. During his working life, he worked on the family farm prior to working as a steelworker in St. Louis. He later worked for Leonard Weidinger’s Standard Station before working for his brother-in-law, Marvin Wansing, at his Phillips 66 Station doing lawnmower and small engine repair. He acquired his teaching degree from Lincoln University and was later employed by the Maries R-1 School District, Vienna, as the Vocational Technology Instructor and school bus driver. He kept his evening repair service at the station retiring from those endeavors in 1986. He continued working as an Automotive Repair Instructor at Rolla Technical Institute for three additional years before he fully retired in 1989.      

He was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Clara; wife, Rosalee; sons, Scott Anthony and Donald Wayne Buschmann; grandaughter, Dakota Leigh Buschmann; brother, Bernard Stephen Buschmann; sister, Marcelline Clara “Marcie” Wansing Ready; brothers-in-law, Melvin William Wansing and Claude Arthur Veasman; and sister-in-law, Lillian Sophie Buschmann.

He is survived by sons, Tim Buschmann and wife Lillian of Albuquerque, N.M., Rick Buschmann of Vienna, Gary Buschmann and wife Shelby of Garland, Texas, and Neal Buschmann and wife Cheryl of Vienna; siblings, Rosalie Leuthen of Vienna, Leona “Lee” Schwartze and husband Jerry of Jefferson City, Teresa Neuner and husband Stanley of Jefferson City, Bernice Veasman of Brinktown, Lawrence Buschmann and wife Dorothy of Vienna, Mary Helton and husband Dorsey of Jefferson City, Ann Bax and husband Dennis of Jefferson City and Bill Buschmann and wife Diane of Taos; brother-in-law, Gerald Ready of Vienna; sister-in-law, Teresa Rose Buschmann of Jefferson City; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A prayer service was held Sunday, March 10 and a Rosary service and Mass of Christian Burial were held Monday, March 11, all in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment was in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions suggested for masses, to the Knights of Columbus, or to the Visitation Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
