Lady Tiger volleyball sweeps Dixon, Plato during preseason jamboree

DIXON — Kaci Jones’ Belle Lady Tiger volleyball team aced their preseason test last Thursday during jamboree action at Dixon High School against the host Lady Bulldogs and Plato Lady Eagles.

Kicking off the evening against the host Lady Bulldogs, Belle took all three games from Dixon by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-22.

They then preceded to sweep Plato’s Lady Eagles winning all three games by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-15.

Opening the jamboree in a Highway 28 showdown with Dixon, Belle jumped out to an early 7-4 lead behind a pair of service points from Lydia Jones.

A pair of McKenna Loughridge aces bumped the Lady Tiger advantage to 12-8.

Dixon answered with three aces from Crystal Schumacher tying the first set at 12-12.

Two more Schumacher service points gave the host Lady Bulldogs a 14-12 lead before the Jones sisters helped Belle back into the lead.

After a Lydia Jones kill made it 14-13 in Dixon’s favor, freshman Chloe Jones served the next three points putting the Lady Tigers back on top 16-14.

Following a kill from Brooklyn Maddox, Lydia Jones served five points in a row before a Loughridge kill gave Belle game one 25-18 over Dixon.

Trailing 11-7 near the midway point of game two, coach Jones called one of her two allotted timeouts in each set to regroup the Lady Tigers.

Two Maddox aces and three Loughridge service points gave Belle a 14-12 lead.

Leading 20-17 later in game two on a Dixon service error, Adalyn Walters took over serving duty with two aces among the next four points giving the Lady Tigers a 24-18 lead.

A Chloe Jones kill on an assist from Saige Garner capped game two in Belle’s favor by a score of 25-19.

Action in the third-and-final set of the scrimmage between Belle and Dixon was tight.

Throughout game three, there were a total of nine ties and 11 lead changes.

Loughridge, Garner and Lydia Jones each had an ace during Belle’s 25-22 game-three victory.

Next up in Pulaski County for the Lady Tigers was Plato’s Lady Eagles.

Trailing throughout most of game one, A Plato error tied the first set at 12-12 sending Garner behind the serving line.

Mixing in a pair of aces over the next six points, Garner gave the Lady Tigers an 18-12 lead.

Plato’s Octavianna Craddock answered with three service points of her own cutting Belle’s lead to 19-17 before a Lady Eagle service error sent Walters into serving duty.

After a pair of aces from Walters, Belle led 22-17 before a Lydia Jones kill ended game one with the Lady Tigers on top 25-19.

Tied at 7-7 after an attack error by Plato, Maddox delivered a pair of aces putting Belle in front 9-7 during the early stages of game two.

A Sara Cannon kill and a Leah Collison service point from Plato tied game two at 9-9.

Maddox then posted a kill putting Belle back on top 10-9 sending Loughridge behind the service line.

Serving up a pair of aces over the next seven points, Loughridge helped Belle to a comfortable 17-9 advantage.

Following a Lydia Jones kill that made it 18-10, little sister Chloe added four service points bumping the Lady Tiger lead to 22-10.

Garner then served the final two points with help from a Maddox block and an Alexis Kirby kill giving Belle game two 25-12.

Going for their second sweep of the night, Belle raced out to a 7-4 lead behind a Maddox kill and two Lydia Jones service points.

Leading 9-6, Belle saw Collison serve the next four points for Plato leaving them trailing the Lady Eagles 10-9.

After a Loughridge kill tied game three at 10-10, Maddox served the next four points putting the Lady Tigers back in front 14-10.

Four more Loughridge service points gave Belle a 19-12 lead later in game three before going on to complete their second three-game sweep of the night.

Belle opened their regular season last night (Tuesday) on the road in a Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) showdown against Bourbon’s Lady Warhawks.
