Belle softball trio to become Vienna Lady Eagles

Thanks to a cooperative effort by administrators at both Belle and Vienna High School, a trio of Belle High School (BHS) softball players will be able to compete this fall after initially facing the prospect of not having that chance.

“We were down to nine players and we knew something had to get done to give both the Belle and Vienna girls an opportunity to play on the softball diamond this fall,” VHS Athletic Director Kevin Schwartze said.

Approved Monday morning by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), Vienna and Belle entered into a cooperative agreement to field a high school softball team this fall.

Normally Class 1, Vienna could be moved up to Class 2 depending on Belle’s enrollment numbers for freshmen through juniors when added to VHS’ enrollment.

“I’m glad that Makenna, Aubrey and Savannah get a chance to play softball this season thanks to the efforts of Vienna High School’s administration,” Maries R-2 Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Randis Sanders said. “It was a win-win for everyone with Belle’s three players helping Vienna increase their chances of having enough players to start and finish their season.”

BHS senior Savannah Perkins will now get a chance to end her high school career on a softball diamond instead of potentially having to watch other teams play because Belle did not have enough players to field a team of their own.

Junior Aubrey Rehmert will also have a chance to earn more postseason honors during her third season of high school softball.

Over the past two years, Rehmert has been earned recognition at the (Gasconade Valley) conference, district, regional and state levels.

Freshman Makenna Lange will also be able to start her high school softball career with a better chance of playing throughout all four years.

VHS players rounding out the roster include seniors Adelynn James and Marissa Hollis along with the junior duo of Aubrey Schwartze and Jezabel Mamblona.

Underclassmen softball players from Vienna include sophomores Ella Hollis, Kaylee Bresnahan and Kyra Peters in addition to the freshmen trio of Delaney Schwartze, Kenna Roberds and Kelsey Kraemer.
