The Vienna High baseball team is set to end its fall season this week in the third annual Show-Me Central Conference Tournament, slated for Monday through Friday at St. Elizabeth.
The Eagles are scheduled to meet Prairie Home in the first round Wednesday.
Vienna split a pair of games last week, dropping a 2-1 heartbreaker at Crocker Tuesday, Sept. 29 and whipping Tuscumbia 11-1 at home Thursday, Oct. 1 at City Park.
The Eagles enter this week with a 5-5 mark.
Oct. 1 - Vienna 11, Tuscumbia 1: A big opening inning allowed the Eagles to lead throughout. Vienna got six runs in the bottom of the first inning then added one in the third and two in each of the fourth and fifth. Tuscumbia got its lone run in the top of the fourth. Vienna outhit Tuscumbia 12-2.
Sophomore Paxten Jeremy smacked two hits, four RBI and scored a run for the winners while sophomore Bentley Haller had a double, single and an RBI; senior Brett Welschmeyer a double, single and scored twice; senior Jaiden Hayes two hits, two runs and RBI; senior Mason Via a hit, run and RBI; freshman Deegan Derick, freshman Weston Schwartze and sophomore Parker James a hit and RBI each; senior Evan Simmons an RBI, and senior Hunter Schwartze two runs.
H. Schwartze pitched all five innings, scattering two hits and two walks while striking out 12.
Sept. 29 - Crocker 2, Vienna 1: After the Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, the Crocker Lions tied it in the bottom half of the frame. Crocker took a 2-1 edge with a run in the fifth, and there would be no more scoring. Crocker outhit Vienna 4-3.
Simmons was the hard-luck losing pitcher, allowing one earned run over six innings on four hits, four walks while fanning three.
James had an RBI double while Hayes and Welschmeyer each had hits and Welschmeyer scored the lone run. The Eagles stole four bases - three by Hayes.
