Belle officer’s July AHC hearing to be rescheduled at AG’s request

New allegations to be investigated

BELLE — Belle Officer Erican B. Sugg was scheduled to appear before the Administrative Hearing Commission (AHC) on July 18, but Missouri Attorney General’s Associate Attorney Gabriela M. Gonzales has requested a continuance.

According to Gonzales, the reason for the continuance is because “she has been made aware of new allegations against the (Sugg) and needs more time to investigate such allegations. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, she may ask for leave to amend her petition.”

According to the document, Gonzales contacted Sugg’s attorney about the new allegations, however, he was “already aware that new allegations had been made against his client.”

Sugg’s attorney did not object to continuing the hearing.

This marks the third time a continuance was requested. The hearing was originally scheduled for March 21 and, at the request of Sugg’s attorney, was rescheduled to May 3, and again to July 18, according to the AHC Portal information.

A new hearing date has not yet been posted to the AHC Portal.

Sugg, a former Maries County Sheriff’s deputy, was terminated from his position for substantiated sexual harassment allegations, according to Sheriff Chris Heitman. Since working for the Belle Police Department, at least one other allegation of sexual harassment has been reported.
