Fresh off a pair of volleyball victories within the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC), Gabbie Scott’s Belle Lady Tigers volleyball team competed over the weekend in the New Haven Round Robin Volleyball Tournament.

Opening tournament action Saturday morning, Belle took on the host Lady Shamrocks whom they had defeated in five sets two weeks ago.

This time around, they split the two-set pool match with Belle taking game one 25-10 and New Haven taking the second game 25-14.

Facing Bowling Green’s Lady Bobcats in their second match of round-robin play, Belle won both sets 25-22 and 25-18 giving them a 3-1 record entering their final round-robin match against Winfield.

Even though Winfield took both sets, Belle’s 3-3 record through the round-robin portion of the tournament was good enough to advance them to the championship match by virtue of their four-point advantage over New Haven from earlier in the day.

Prior to the championship match between Belle and Winfield, New Haven defeated Bowling Green for third place in the tournament.

Swept hours earlier in round-robin play, Belle looked to avenge that loss to Winfield in the championship match at New Haven.

Falling 25-13 and 25-12 to the Lady Warriors, Belle settled for second place at New Haven.

Prior to the tournament at New Haven, Belle opened Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) volleyball action last week with home matches against Cuba and Viburnum.

Last Monday against Cuba, Belle’s JV Lady Tigers fell in two sets to the Lady Wildcats 25-22 and 25-17.

Varsity action saw Belle’s varsity squad look to pick up their junior varsity counterparts.

In a back-and-forth match, Belle won their GVC opener in five sets by scores of 26-24, 14-25, 25-23, 23-25 and 15-10.

Three nights later on Thursday, Belle welcomed Viburnum’s Lady Blue Jays to BHS for another home GVC volleyball match.

In JV action, Belle swept the match in two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-11.

Varsity action also saw Belle sweep Viburnum in three sets 25-18, 25-20 and 25-14.

Friday in Linn, Belle’s JV Lady Tigers took second place during the annual Linn JV Volleyball Tournament.

In their first match, they defeated the Linn JV ‘A’ team in three sets 25-9, 23-25 and 15-7.

Match number two saw Belle fall to Blair Oaks 25-8 and 25-19 before bouncing back to sweep Linn’s JV ‘B’ team in two sets 25-9 and 25-0.

Mackenzie Garner served 25 consecutive points for Belle’s JV in game two of their match with Linn’s JV ‘B’ team helping the Lady Tigers take second place in the tournament.

Monday night back at home, Belle took on Calvary Lutheran’s Lady Lions in a varsity-only match.

Needing four sets to tame the Lady Lions, Belle defeated Calvary Lutheran 25-14, 19-25, 25-13 and 25-21.

After hosting Linn last night (Tuesday) Belle will face Cuba tonight (Wednesday) on the road beginning at 5 p.m.
