Ending their respective seasons with winning records, Belle’s Tigers and Lady Tigers both had two players named to their respective Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Class 3, District 9 All-District Basketball Teams in recent voting by coaches from the district tournament.

Earning All-District honors for Evin Farris’ Lady Tigers were sophomore Anastyn Lansford and senior Nevaeh Kinsey.

Averaging a team-high 16.2 points per game, Lansford also led the team shooting a team-high 76.4% from the free-throw line.

Her 2.5 assists and 3.1 steals per game also led the Lady Tigers.

Reaching double digits in scoring during 21 of Belle’s 27 games, Lansford put up a season-high 34 points during their regular-season ending 73-67 overtime loss at Cuba.

Lansford grabbed a season-high seven rebounds three times in games against Laquey, Dixon and Russellville.

In the assist department, she dished out six dimes twice in games against Fulton and Vienna during the November portion of their season.

Six was also a serious number in the steal department as the Lady Tiger sophomore amassed that many steals in two games against Bourbon and Liberty Christian.

Kinsey also averaged double digits in the scoring column at 11.3 points per game while shooting 60.5% from the charity stripe good for second place on the team behind Lansford.

She was also queen of the glass averaging a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game.

Reaching double figures in scoring during 18 of Belle’s 27 games, Kinsey scored a season-high 25 points during a season-opening 53-32 win over Fulton’s Lady Hornets.

On the boards, Kinsey pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds during a 59-48 loss at Iberia in late January.

Dishing out three assists on four occasions, Kinsey recorded those in games against Springfield Central, Dixon, Vienna and St. Elizabeth.

Averaging nearly a blocked shot per game, Kinsey blocked a season-high three shots in the district semifinals against Steelville.

Joining Lansford and Kinsey on the MBCA Class 3, District 9 Girls All-District Team were Bevin Bouse (Bourbon), Kinsley Lipscomb (Dixon), Alli Robertson (Fatima), Vivian Bax (Fatima), Lucy Crede (Fatima), Kaitlyn Plassmeyer (Fatima), Abby Kreitner (Steelville) and Marli Perkins (Steelville).

Reaching their first district championship game in a long time, Johnny Viehland’s Belle Tiger basketball team went 19-8 which more than doubled their win total of nine from last year.

Senior Baylar Smith and junior Glayden Woodruff were both named to the MBCA Class 3, District 9 Boys All-District Team.

Third on the team in scoring averaging 10.4 points per game, Smith pulled down a team-high eight rebounds per game.

Reaching double figures in 17 of Belle’s 27 games, Smith posted a season-high 24 points in their second game of the season during an 80-22 win at New Haven.

Grabbing double-digit rebounds in nine games, eight of those led to double doubles for the Tiger senior.

His best game on the boards was a 15-rebound effort against Vienna in which he also had 12 points.

Dishing out a season-high three assists and Dixon, Baylar also racked up a season-high four steals against St. James during the Hermann Boys Basketball Tournament.

A major presence inside, Smith blocked a season-high three shots twice in games against Russellville and Steelville.

Causing nightmares for opposing teams from beyond the 3-point line, Woodruff averaged 10.7 points per game which was good for second on the team behind Brayden Cadwallader’s 11 points per game.

Reaching double digits in the scoring column during 14 games, Woodruff threw in a season-high 23 points against Steelville in the district semifinals during their 72-54 win which avenged a 56-46 loss to the Cardinals just over two weeks prior in Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) action.

Also in that second Steelville game, Woodruff canned a season-high seven 3-pointers.

On the glass, Woodruff pulled down a season-high seven rebounds against School of the Osage while dishing out a season-high five assists twice in games against Bourbon and Cuba.

Defensively, Woodruff recorded a season-high four steals during a 65-62 overtime victory against Dixon in mid-January.

Joining Smith and Woodruff on the MBCA Class 3, District 9 Boys All-District team were Drew Young (Dixon), Levi Robinson (Fatima), Easton Haslag (Fatima), Matthew Robertson (Fatima), Tanner Patterson (Iberia), Grant Perry (Iberia), Noah Hall (Linn) and Owen McPeters (Steelville).

More postseason honors could come this month from the GVC and Central Missouri media.
