Jim “Henry King” Strain, 80, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at his home.

He was born Sept. 24, 1944, to Francis and Geneva (Yates-Strain) King and was raised by Charles King (whom he considered his father) at Rolla.

He was united in marriage to Jean Newkirk, Nov. 22, 1967.

Jim accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1972 and was called to preach in 1974. He never felt more at home at a church than the years he spent at Sugar Tree Grove in Bunker.

He had worked at Brown Shoe factory, farming, and various other jobs until he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a tour in Vietnam from 1968–69.

He was preceded in death by parents, Francis and Geneva; and step-father, Charles King.

Jim is survived by wife of 57 years, Jean; children, Rick Strain, Sheriee (Strain) Mallory and husband Jeff, Todd Strain, and Chad Strain and wife Honeylee; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Danny Bassett officiating. Interment with military honors was held in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon.
