Who is the mystery voice impersonator setting on Belle City Council? During the April 6, 2023 council meeting someone sounding like Barb Howarth made a suggestion to the effect that the empty lot next to Belinda Branson would be a good spot to park the city trash dumpster. This statement can be read in the Maries County Advocate on page 7 of the Wednesday, April 12 edition dealing with the city trash dumpster. If you go to the Advocate’s Facebook site and search for the 4-6-23 audio of the council meeting (about 20 minutes into the meeting). Someone sounding like Mrs. Howarth made the above statement then asked if minutes were being taken. Someone at the council table replied no, at this point the mayor and some of the council start laughing and demeaning Belinda for wanting our neighborhood to meet standards set forth by our city ordinances. It appears that the city council would rather cater to the non-caring citizens instead of enforcing our ordinances. Belle, as a whole is a good place to live. At the 4-17-23 city council meeting Mrs. Howarth was asked why she would make this statement. She said that she didn’t remember making the statement. When asked if she wanted to read that was quoted in the Advocate, she said she didn’t care to read it.
