VIENNA — Vienna FFA High School chapter has been busy with a full schedule of events, activities and fundraisers over the past month, giving members numerous opportunities to learn, compete, and give back to the community.

The month began with the cornhole committee meeting on Sept 2, followed by a mandatory barn clean-up and payout on the 4th for those who participated in the livestock expo. Volunteers were thanked for helping prepare the barn. Sept 8th marked the deadline for mum orders, which were delivered on the 10th. Officers held a morning meeting that day and chapter members were encouraged to purchase mums, with extra available at G&W Foods.

FFA members also stayed active in competitions and learning opportunities. Trapshooting practice was held several times throughout the month, with the A team taking second place at the Herman trapshoot on September 13th. Top individual shooters included Gage Davis in sixth place and Max Keeran in eighth. The freshman and sophomores attended Bradfield Day on September 9th, gaining valuable knowledge and enjoying the experience.

Chapter meetings were paired with fun events, such as the Cornhole Tournament on Sept. 10, won by Cooper Kleffner and Larissa Rollins and the hayride and bonfire on Oct. 3, which also included the Greenhand and Chapter degree pinning ceremony. Missouri State FFA Vice President Cierra Britton attended to present the pins to members who earned their degrees. Other community activities included serving food at the Maries County Annual Farm Bureau Meeting and enjoying the Barnyard Zoo on Sept. 25.

Fundraisers kept members busy as well. The fruit fundraiser ran from September 17th to October 1st, and letterman patch and official dress FFA jacket orders were due later in the month. Juniors and seniors visited the Ozark Farm Fest in Springfield on October 3rd, and the chapter’s trapshooting teams continued competing, with notable performances at the Vienna Trap Shoot on October 4th, which were reported on in a previous edition of the Advocate.

The chapter has had several events in the month of October. National Convention interviews are scheduled for October 8th, and FFA dues were due by the 10th. Chapter t-shirt, hoodie and hat order forms were due by October 15th. Area Fall Public Speaking will take place on Oct. 22, and the National FFA Convention runs from Oct. 29 through Nov. 1.

Vienna FFA members continue to balance learning, service and competition, demonstrating growth and dedication to both their chapter and the community.
