VIENNA — Presiding Commissioner Vic Stratman announced during the March 27 commission that he will be running for reelection on Nov. 3.
“I have decided that I’ve got in the habit of eating, and so I am going to run for commissioner so that I can continue to eat the way I want,” he said.
The first closed session was concerning one of Public Administrator Amanda Sandbothe’s wards. The commissioners met in a second closed session with Sheriff Mark Morgan and Prosecuting Attorney Tony Skouby regarding legal matters.
The Maries County Bank and the commission have also agreed to install an ATM at the courthouse. Kristen Kames from the bank said they hope to install it as soon as possible, ideally within the next month.
Luke Marks, benefits consultant at Redwood Health, also visited to share with the commissioners about a benefits package that would add no additional cost to the county or its employees. But the county’s benefits company sent back an article by Acrisure, advising caution with such benefits packages to avoid fraud and non-compliance with federal tax laws. The commissioners will let Marks know if they are interested with proceeding.
