Vernon Henry Smith, 91, Dixon, passed way Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon.
He was born Oct. 21, 1929, to Peter Henry and Edna Bell (Singleton) Smith, in Crocker .
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Fey Evans, Oct. 25, 1951, in Crocker.
Vernon was a member of the U.S. Army. He worked for Ford Motor Company in the St. Robert-Waynesville and Dixon areas. Vernon was a member of Santee Church near Dixon.
He was preceded in death by parents, Peter and Edna; brother, Roland Smith; and sister, Dorothy Bahr.
He is survived by wife, Bonnie, of Dixon; sons, Donald and wife Sharon Smith of Dixon and Dwight and wife Denice Smith of Edwards; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 29, at Long-Kleoppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Rev. Bruce Doublin, Sunny View Free Will Baptist Church, Lebanon, officiating. Interment with full military honors was in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to West Fairview Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
