Velva Lucille Jones, 97, of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, in the Phelps Health, Rolla.
She was born April 6, 1926, to Charles Issac and Nellie Mae (Alexander) Rigsby in Helm.
Velva was baptized early in life. She worked as a waitress and helped her husband on their farm.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Nellie; sons, Jim Barnhart and Larry Barnhart; grandson, Nicholas Howe; brothers, Ernie Rigsby and Paul Rigsby; and sister, Patsy Fenton.
She is survived by daughter, Paula Hughes and husband Doug of Dixon; brothers, Bob Rigsby and wife Jane of Springfield and Jack Rigsby and wife Paula of the state of Ala.; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In following Velva’s wishes, the family elected cremation under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
