VIENNA — Superintendent Teresa Messersmith announced her resignation at the Oct. 27 Maries R-1 Board of Education meeting after 20 years of serving the district. Her last day will be June 30, 2027, the end of the district’s fiscal year.
In an email, Messersmith said that she currently doesn’t have any specific plans but is waiting for the opportunities that God opens.
“I know His plan will be greater than mine,” she said.
Messersmith didn’t give a reason for her resignation, but she expressed gratitude for her 14 years as a teacher and six years as the superintendent.
“I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together to support our students, families and staff in our community,” she said.
She wished the district the best and said that she is committed to ensuring a smooth leadership transition.
“Once an Eagle, always an Eagle,” she said.
The board accepted her resignation with a 6-0 vote, expressing regret.
“You’ve been very instrumental in the school. Thank you,” said David Long, board president.
