VIENNA — Six candidates have filed for county offices in Maries County as of The Advocate’s deadline on March 3, according to Maries County Clerk Rhonda Rodgers.
Missouri law requires a random lottery drawing on the first day of the candidate filing period to determine ballot order rather than using the time candidates arrived. After the first day of filing, it will revert back to the time of filing.
Under the process, each candidate’s name is placed into a drawing conducted by the county clerk. Names are drawn at random, and the order in which they are selected determines how they will appear on the ballot. The first name drawn is placed first on the ballot for that office, followed by the remaining candidates in the order drawn.
The number listed beside each candidate reflects their position in that drawing and ultimately their placement on the ballot. The numbers do not represent vote totals, ranking or seniority.
For Associate Circuit Judge, Kerry Glen Rowden drew No. 10 for ballot position.
Mark A. Buschmann filed for Circuit Clerk and Recorder and drew No. 25 on ballot position.
Beth T. Wulff filed for Collector and drew No. 12 for ballot position.
Two candidates filed for Prosecuting Attorney. Katherine Slone will appear first on the ballet as she drew ballot position No. 3 and Tony Skouby drew No. 19 for ballot position.
Angie Pasley filed for Treasurer and drew No. 5 for ballot position.
Additional filings are expected to occur before March 31, the close of the candidate filing period.
