Sheriff’s office reports June activity

Maries County Sheriff Mark Morgan released his Office activity report for June, highlighting law enforcement, emergency response and public service duties performed throughout the month.

Deputies conducted 79 traffic stops during June, responded to 10 traffic complaints and investigated one suspected driving while intoxicated case.

Patrol operations included 31 business and area checks and nine extra patrols throughout the county.

The sheriff’s office also provided services to citizens, including nine motorist assists, three citizen assists and 17 well-being checks. Deputies responded to six animal calls, assisted other agencies 11 times, handled five calls for police service, received 12 phone messages, answered five information requests and responded to three alarm activations.

Criminal investigations remained an active part of the department’s workload. During June, deputies conducted 12 follow-up investigations, responded to nine reports of suspicious activity and investigated six disturbances. The office also handled four domestic violence investigations, two burglary investigations, five stealing investigations, two fraud investigations, two property damage investigations and three trespassing complaints.

Additional investigative work included one child abuse or neglect investigation, three missing or runaway person investigations, two drug investigations and two death investigations.

Court and jail operations included eight prisoner transports and the service of 16 legal papers.

Emergency response activity included 11 motor vehicle accidents and 11 medical emergencies. Deputies also responded to two fire calls, two storm or weather-related incidents and three reports of road hazards or debris in the roadway.
