Roger Lyle Oakley, 70, of St. James, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Phelps Health – Rolla.
He was born July 13, 1953, to Ralph and Margie (Knupp) Oakley in Matoon, Ill.
He was united in marriage to Sheila Wofford, Oct. 31, 1987, in Granite City, Ill.
Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially mushrooms and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Margie; father-in-law, Dan Wofford Sr.; brother, Ralph Oakley Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Jim Bierman and Dan Wofford Jr.
He is survived by wife, Sheila of their home; daughter Teal Biri and husband Mike of Cape Girardeau; mother-in-law, Anna Wofford of Red Bird; brother, Mark Oakley and wife Cindy of Tuscola, Ill.; sisters, Diane Bierman (Suzie) of Tuscola, Ill., Connie Woolsey and husband Dan of Champagne, Ill., and Debbie Briggs and husband Marty of Tuscola, Ill.; brother-in-law, Glenn Wofford and wife Tyke of Red Bird; grandchildren, Kennady and Jake Biri; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (today), Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Spurgeon officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery at Red Bird.
Memorials requested to Salvation Army – Rolla Chapter.
