The Maries R-2 School District is planning a 12 days summer school for extended transportation opportunities according to Belle Elementary School Principal Vanessa Feeler.
“We would like to go for 12 days, five hours a day,” Feeler told the board. “Summer school would begin May 25 (pending no more snow days).”
The dates would be May 27-28, June 1-4, June 8-11 and June 15-16. No Mondays are included in the schedule. School would begin at 8 a.m. and go until 1 p.m. Breakfast will be served at 7:40 a.m., Feeler said.
“We want to be able to feed more kids longer,” Feeler explained about the change from the eight hour-day to the five hour-day and extending summer school out another four days.
The board approved the 2020-21 summer school proposal with a 7-0 vote.
