BELLE — A Christmas party held Dec. 13 at Padgett’s Place raised $2,400 to benefit the Maries County R-2 School District school lunch program debt, helping ensure local students have access to meals.
According to Adam Padgett, the total included $600 from food sales and public donations, along with contributions from several local businesses. Donors included Padgett’s Place, CTC Underground, Tim Kinsey and TNT Underground, bringing the overall total to $2,400 to be donated directly to settling student’s unpaid lunch balances.
The event featured a pork steak dinner, with the pork steaks grilled and donated by Padgett’s Place. Additional side dishes were donated by organizers and volunteers.
The fundraiser was organized by Alsea Padgett, Heather Drewel, Carrie Kinsey and Angie Buddemeyer. Padgett said that the organizers also assisted with setup, serving food and overall event coordination.
Padgett said the goal of the fundraiser was to help address unpaid school lunch balances and support students in need within the district.
With the success of the event, Padgett said they hope to make the Christmas party an annual charitable event benefiting a worthy local cause.
