BELLE — Avid pool players packed into Padgett’s Place on Dec. 6 for the Owensville High School (OHS) Class of 2026 Project Graduation Pool Tournament, an event that combined competitive play with support for senior students.
The eight-ball tournament featured a race-to-three format with a $35 entry that included green fees. Players began signing in at noon and brackets filled quickly. Ten participants competed in this year’s event, helping raise $650 for OHS Project Graduation. All prize money was donated back to the cause, with first place going to Adam Padgett, second to Josiah Melzer and third to Chris Allen.
Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed homemade chili and desserts that were available for purchase. A 50/50 raffle also helped boost fundraising totals.
Padgett’s Place, located at 215 S. Alvarado Ave. in Belle, served as host venue and provided a lively atmosphere for both seasoned pool players and newcomers who wanted to support the cause.
Organizers said they were grateful for the community turnout. Jessie Krull, a regular at the bar, helped develop the fundraiser alongside Padgett’s Place owner Adam Padgett.
“We came up with this event to raise any funds that could add to their night,” Padgett said, noting that his business always looks for ways to give back. This marks the second year Padgett’s Place has hosted a tournament for Owensville, in addition to several past fundraisers that have benefited Belle.
Padgett added that the giving spirit continues this weekend. Padgett’s Place will host its annual Christmas party, where pork steak plates will be sold with all proceeds donated to the school lunch program.
“We anticipate selling out,” he said. “Our community is generous.”
