VIENNA — Ballots in the April election will not include races for the Maries-Osage Ambulance District (MOAD) board nor the Maries R-1 School Board. In each race, the number of candidates who filed before the December deadline equaled the number of open seats, so those who filed are elected without requiring a vote.
In the MOAD board election, the two incumbent candidates were the only two to file for the seats. Don Lanning, who serves as the board’s president while representing MOAD’s District 2 in the Brinktown area of Maries County, refiled for his seat. MOAD board vice-president Steve Maxwell, who represents District 5 in the Freeburg area of Osage County, refiled for his seat. MOAD board members serve three-year terms.
The Maries R-1 School Board had three open positions. Board member Matt Novak refiled for his position. School board president Vicki Bade and board vice-president Penny Schoene did not file. Newcomers Denise Wilkinson and Kayla Wansing filed to fill the open seats. School board members serve three-year terms.
New members will take office once current terms end following the April municipal election.
