Lois Irene Elsman, 90, of Dixon, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, in the Richland Care Center, Richland.

Lois was born Jan. 3, 1934, to Harry Melford and Orpha Marie (York) Anderson in Bloodland.

She was united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1957, to Lloyd Walter Elseman in Tuscumbia.  

Lois was baptized in November of 1958 and was a member of the Gasconade Baptist Church, Dixon for 66 years where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and enjoyed helping in the kitchen.

During her working life, Lois was employed with Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, worked on Fort Leonard Wood, ran an in-home fabric shop, and was employed at Rexall Drugstore, Waynesville.

She was preceded in death by parents Harry and Orpha; husband, Loyd; brothers, infant Snowden Anderson, Paul Anderson and Richard “Dickie” Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Carol Elsman Jr., Mary Ann Anderson, and Don Taylor; and mother and father-in-law, Louis and Jessie (Thompson) Elseman Sr.

  Lois is survived by children, Debbie Hall and husband, Greg, of Springfield, Jimmy Elsman and wife, Debbie, of Crocker, Lisa Taylor and husband, Alan, of Bolivar, and Jessie Elseman and wife, Stephanie, of Dixon; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Belle Taylor, of Crocker, and Carolyn Jones and husband, Nile, of Jefferson City; nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24 (today), from 5-7 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 25 from 10-11 a.m. at  Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon with her funeral service at 11 a.m. with Bro. Joshua Sutton, pastor of Gasconade Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Gasconade Cemetery, near Dixon, under direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
