Lilly LaVaughn Cox Bray Tilton Drysdale, 95, the state of Florida, formerly of Vienna, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, in Stuart, Fla., under the care of Hospice of Treasure Coast.
She was born Feb. 12, 1925.
She was united in marriage to Albert “Pete” Bray in 1942. He preceded her in death. She was later united in marriage to Ransom R. Tilton. He also preceded her in death. Her final union of marriage was to Ronald Drysdale.
LaVaughn was raised on the family farm in Maries County. She graduated from Terry School at the age of 16 in 1941. Accompanying Pete during his WWII service, she worked as a seamstress on base. She later worked as a secretary at the state capitol. LaVaughn and her family moved to Jensen Beach, Fla., in 1963, where they purchased Sun ‘N Palms Cottages. LaVaughn founded Hibiscus Children’s Center in 1985.
She was also preceded in death by stepson, Roland W. “Scott” Drysdale Jr.
She is survived by children, Susan and Joyce; step-children, Ren and Robin; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
