Leo Henry Kleffner Sr., 94, Brinktown, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.
He was born July 7, 1926, to Edward Charles and Elizabeth Mary (Kroll) Kleffner, at Brinktown
He was united in marriage to Teresa Faye Grempczynski, Sept. 27, 1947, at Dixon.
Leo served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded and entitled to wear the American Theater Service Medal, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church and Lischwe-Brandel American Legion Post 354, both in Brinktown. Leo was a lifelong cattle farmer on his Century Farm in Maries County.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Elizabeth; wife, Faye; sons, Gary Kleffner and infant Paul Kleffner; siblings, John, Clemens, Vincent, Louis, Clarence and Anthony Kleffner, Tillie Hutchison, Gertrude Bure and infants, Emil and Mimmie Kleffner; granddaughter, Christina Crider; and great-grandson, Blake Wagner.
He is survived by children, Leo Kleffner Jr. and wife Susan of Vienna, Ruth Ann Yarbrough and husband Ron of Lake Ozark, Helen Steward and husband Kevin of Sturgeon, Becky Wieberg and husband Mike of Argyle, Tom Kleffner of St. Louis, Mary Wagner and husband Clifford of Vienna, Mike Kleffner and wife Robin of Brinktown, Don Kleffner and wife Laurie of Argyle, Mark Kleffner and wife Tammy of Vienna and Pat Kleffner and wife Carrie of Vienna; and 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, March 11, at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown with Rev. Matthew Flatley as celebrant and Rev. Basil Tigga assisting. Interment was in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in Brinktown. Memorial contributions suggested to Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
