In their quest for another Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) title, Kaci Jones’ Belle Lady Tiger volleyball team hit the road for a pair of matches last Tuesday in Viburnum and last Friday night in Steelville.
Sweeping Viburnum in three sets by scores of 26-24, 25-23 and 25-16, Belle was led by Lydia Jones and Hadassah Carman with two aces apiece.
Lydia Jones also led the Lady Tigers with 17 kills followed closely by Adalyn Walters with 15 kills against the Lady Blue Jays.
Saige Garner dished out a team-high 20 assists while Zoe Camden also reached double digits with 15 dimes.
In digs, Lydia Jones led four Lady Tigers in double digits with 14 followed by 13 from Carman and 11 digs apiece out of Chloe Jones and Walters.
Belle also swept the JV match in two sets at Viburnum 25-18 and 25-10.
Opening the October portion of their season last Friday in Steelville, Belle took the second set before dropping the next two and the match against the Lady Cardinals 25-20, 26-28, 25-19 and 25-14.
Lydia Jones served a team-high four aces for Belle at Steelville followed closely with two aces from Chloe Jones and Carman.
Combining for 25 kills were Lydia (13) and Chloe (12) Jones. Walters and Carman also chipped in six kills each.
Camden passed out 20 assists while Garner had 13 dimes at Steelville.
Walters led four Lady Tigers in double digit digs with 16 followed by Camden (14), Lydia Jones (11) and Carman (10).
Hosting Bourbon last night (Tuesday) for senior night, Belle will get another shot at Steelville tomorrow (Thursday) night on their home court before hosting their annual home tournament Saturday at both the Bland Middle School and Belle High School gyms.
Teams in the red pool at Belle will include the host Lady Tigers, Bourbon Lady Warhawks and Dixon Lady Bulldogs while teams in the black pool at Bland will include North Callaway’s Lady Thunderbirds, Steelville’s Lady Cardinals and Cuba’s Lady Wildcats.
Pool action will get underway at 9 a.m., in both gyms with place matches for consolation, third and the championship starting at approximately 12:30 p.m., at Belle High School.
