John Joseph Riegel Jr., Wardsville, passed away Dec. 30, 2025.
He was born the son of the late John Joseph Riegel Sr. and Marie Martha (Schepker) Riegel in Jefferson City.
He grew up on the family farm in Linn and was a 1973 graduate of Linn High School. John continued his education at Linn State Technical College, earning an Associate Degree in Drafting, and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from William Woods University.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alice Fast June 3, 1978 at Annunciation Catholic Church in California. Together they shared many years of love and family.
John worked for ABB/Hitachi from 1978 until his retirement in 2021.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and greatly enjoyed spending time on the family farm. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by parents, John and Marie; and granddaughter, Korie Riegel.
He is survived by loving wife, Alice; daughter, Ann Metternich and husband Greg; son, Kenneth Riegel and wife Katie; grandchildren, Valerie and Olivia Metternich and Kylie, Kinsey and Kolton Riegel; siblings, James Riegel, Richard Riegel and wife Sue and Patricia Washburn and husband Ric; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Prayer Service was held Friday, Jan. 2, at Houser-Millard Funeral Director’s in Jefferson City.
Memorial contributions suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
