James Franklin Rinehart, 100, passed away Friday Aug. 27, 2021.

He was born Nov. 4, 1920, to Herschel and Augusta (Skouby) Rinehart.

He attended 8 years at the Oak Grove School and completed high school in Bland. Jim was raised attending the Oak Grove Church of Christ. Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army in August of 1942. During his service, he fought in the Italian Campaign and received a Purple Heart and other honors. Jim then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. He enjoyed working at the County Extension in Salem, a chicken hatchery and feed store. He taught at the Miles School and the Saint James High School, where he taught physical education and was an assistant coach. He worked for the Federal Land Bank and Production Credit.

Jim is preceded in death by parents Herschel and Augusta; brothers Morris Branstetter, Hanson Rinehart, Bill Rinehart, Tom Rinehart and Jesse Rinehart; sister Mary (Rinehart) Frost, sisters-in-law Francis Branstetter, Mary Belle Rinehart, Fern Rinehart, Kathleen Rinehart, and Patty Rinehart and brother-in-law Garth Frost.

He is survived by brother Martin Rinehart of Rolla; sister-in-law Betty Rinehart of St. James.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, St. James. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home with Steve Helterbrand and Robert Rinehart officiating.

Internment with full military honors will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
