Grover L. Johnson, 87, of Dixon, passed away Nov. 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by wife and children.
He was born Oct. 5, 1936, to Tony “Marvin” and Maxine (Grisham) Johnson in Gainesville.
He was a graduate of Gainesville High School, Southwest Missouri State University, and served in the U.S. Air Force. Grover’s banking profession spanned over 40 years, from an examiner to the president of the Bank of Bourbon, and the former State Bank of Dixon.
Grover was preceded in death by parents, Marvin and Maxine; daughter, Vicky Lee Johnson; son, John Alan Johnson; granddaughters, Jessica Nichole Johnson and Gracie Simmons; brother, Eugene “Gene” Johnson; sister, Wilma Watson; son-in-law, Scott G. Lyons; and stepson, Brian K. Simmons.
He is survived by wife, Michelle Miller Johnson of the home; daughter, Janet A. Lyons; sons, Joseph Johnson and Jamie (Dena) Johnson; stepson Jason Simmons; mother of his children, Bonnie Herd Johnson; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the First Baptist Church, Dixon. Interment with full military honors was in the Seaton Cemetery, Dixon.
