George Edward Davis Jr., 87, of Vienna, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 20, 1936, to George E. Davis and Ethel Mae (Dugmanics) Davis. 

He entered active federal service Feb. 8, 1958, at Fort Leonard Wood, in the U.S. Army serving six months active duty and continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve until Dec. 6, 1964, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Leonard Wood, at the rank of Specialist 5th Class (SP5).

George was united in marriage to Victoria “Vicki” LaMure, Nov. 22, 1995, at the United Methodist Church, Vienna. 

He worked at Smith Quarry’s, Vichy, as a limestone miner, and a Deputy Sheriff for Maries County, all while tending to his family farm outside of Vienna. 

He was preceded in death by parents George and Ethel; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Seidel and James “Jim” Peterman.

He is survived by wife of 27 years, Vicki of the home near Vienna; sons, Lynn Davis (Denise) of Vienna, Kenneth Davis (Jane) of Vichy, and Richard Davis (Paula) of Rolla; stepsons, Lee Harmon (Kristy) of Harrisonville and Larry Harmon (Dagmar) of the state of Texas; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marilyn Seidel of Huntsville, Shirley Peterman of Rolla and Betty Davis of Vichy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 26, from 9–10 a.m., at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Vienna, with funeral services following with Larry Davis officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Lower Davis Cemetery, near Vichy.
