Francis Anthony “Frank” Knollmeyer, 90, of Vienna, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, in Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born Oct. 5, 1932, to Francis and Antoinette (Haar) Knollmeyer in Jefferson City.

Frank entered active federal service in the U.S. Army, Nov. 30, 1954, where he served until Nov. 29, 1962, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 3rd Class. During his military career Frank served as a military police officer at West Point, being awarded badges for expert rifle M-1 and sharpshooter pistol .45 caliber, and the Good Conduct Medal. He also served during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage to Glennis Lenora Mann, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Word of Life Fellowship Church, Clear Lake, Wis.

Frank was baptized early in life and was a member of Kenner Church of God, near Dixon.

He continued his career in the lumber business, becoming manager in 1956 and in 1957 owner of Knollmeyer Lumber and Hardware. Frank was a member of the True Value Association, Cattlemen Association, Lumber Association, Jaycees, Lions Club, American Legion, and the Optimist Club.

He was preceded in death by parents Francis and Antionette; and brothers, John Knollmeyer and Jerome Knollmeyer.

Frank is survived by wife, Glennis, of the home near Vienna; children, Mike Knollmeyer of Bath Township, Ohio, Marsha Mercer and Kyle Miller (Laura) all of Dixon; step-children, Tammy VanDeWiele (Mark) of Osceola, Wis., Susan Dollar (George) of Skiatook, Okla., John Ahles of Star Prairie, Wis., Mark Ahles (Sandy) of New Richmond, Wis., and Catherine Hayes (Rick) of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald Knollmeyer (Jeannie) of Bonnots Mill.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 18, in Kenner Church of God, Dixon, with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating. 

Memorials suggested to Kenner Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
