Five from Belle, three from Vienna on media all-district teams

Five members of the Belle High School basketball teams and three players from Vienna were selected to the Missouri Media Central All-District Teams, it was announced this week.

Named to the Central Class 3 All-District Teams were 6-2 senior Hank Stratman, 6-4 junior Hank Willis and 5-10 senior Garrett Gehlert from the Belle boys’ squad and 5-5 senior Anastyn Lansford and 5-5 senior Aubrey Rehmert from the Lady Tigers. Lansford was chosen to the first team and Rehmert to the second team for the Lady Tigers. Stratman was on the first team and Willis and Gehlert the second team for the Belle boys.

Vienna players selected to the Class 2 All-District Teams were 6-2 junior Teagan James from the boys team and 5-8 senior Aubrey Schwartze and 5-4 senior Ella Hollis of the Lady Eagles. James was named to the boys’ first team while Schwartze was on the first team and Hollis on the second team for the girls’ squad.

Stratman averaged 16.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.1 steals for the Belle Tigers, shooting 52% from the field and hitting 21 three-pointers. He was the Gasconade Valley Conference Co-Player of the Year. Willis averaged 12.0 points, 8.1 boards and shot a sizzling 59% from the field. Gehlert averaged 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.5 steals while hitting 33 three-pointers at a 35% clip. The Belle boys enjoyed a sparkling 23-5 record this season.

Lansford scored at a 19.7 clip while also averaging 4.4 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.9 assists. She canned a whopping 92 treys at a 30% clip and was named Gasconade Valley Conference Player of the Year. Rehmert averaged 8.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 assists, hitting 14 threes. The Lady Tigers finished with a 16-12 record.

For the Lady Eagles Schwartze averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks per game. Hollis averaged 15 points, five assists and five steals. The Vienna girls finished with a 16-11 mark.

James had a big season for the Eagle boys, averaging 23.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks to earn Show-Me Central Conference Player of the Year honors. Vienna finished with a 12-15 record.

There were 23 Class 2 schools and 17 Class 3 schools in the Missouri Media Central District.
