BELLE — Maries County boards continue to see few candidates sign up to run for open chairs since Dec. 5 when filing opened.

The city of Belle has two-year term seats open for Alderman Ward One, Alderman Ward Two, and the mayor.

Terry Connors filed on Dec. 12 for the Ward 2 seat. Mitchell picked up a packet on Monday, Dec. 11, but it hasn’t been submitted.

Former alderman Ken Stanfield picked up a packet on Dec. 14. Tracey Creswell signed up around 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 for mayor.

Incumbents are Alderman Ward 1 Emily Williams, appointed on Oct. 25; Ward 2 Alderman James (Pudd) Mitchell and Belle Mayor Daryl White, Jr. were both elected to one-year terms in April 2023.

Belle City Hall is closed on Friday, Dec. 22  through Monday Dec. 25 for the holiday. They are open on Dec. 26 until 4 p.m. for filing.

At the Maries County R-2 School District, two seats with three-year terms are open. Incumbents are Kenda Sanders and Aaron Vandegriff.

Sanders filed at 8 a.m. on Dec. 5 at the Administration Building.

In Vienna, two seats with three-year terms are available on the Maries County R-1 Board. Dave Garro and Mike Kleffner currently hold the seats. This past week, Lori Hayes and Kevin Heavin filed for the election.

The city of Vienna has four-year term seats open for North Ward Alderman and South Ward Alderman.

Incumbent North Ward Aldermen Rita Juergens filed to retain the seat on Dec. 14.

The Maries-Osage Ambulance District Board of Directors has two open seats for Sub-District #3 and Sub-District #6. Angie Thompson filed for the Sub-District #6 seat on Dec. 19.

The city of Bland has three two-year term Aldermen At-Large seats open, currently occupied by Merilee Spurgeon, Shari Morgan and John Hollandsworth.

Morgan filed around 10 a.m. on Dec. 5 for an alderman seat. However, with the death of Alderman Ned Steiner earlier this month she was sworn in during the Dec. 11 monthly board meeting.

The Bland mayor seat is also open for a two-year term. Spurgeon filed for the seat on Dec. 6 in the morning.

Dec. 26 is the last day for candidates to file.
