LINN — Fatima senior Madeline Carwile was awarded the Missouri Association of County Clerks and Election Authorities (MACCEA) scholarship for Osage County, for the 2023-24 school year.

Carwile is the yearbook head of sales this year, as well as being on the homecoming committee, Student Council, and Art Club representative.

“Madeline’s academic achievement is not her only distinguishing factor,” wrote high school counselor Kary Brunnert in her letter of recommendation. “Throughout her time at Fatima High School, Madeline has been a member of Archery Club, Art Club, Drama Club, Yearbook, Family Community and Career Leaders of America, National Honor Society, Student Council, Colorguard, and Fatima’s A+ program.”

“It is easy to see Madeline’s outstanding work ethic and commitment through her extensive list of activities and accomplishments. However this list does not show her personality, which I consider just as important,” Brunnert continued, going on to praise Madeline’s responsibility, reliability, organization, creativity, willingness to help, and ability to work well with others.

The Scholarship Committee Board’s statement read, “Madeline Carwile was selected for the scholarship this year because the essay Madeline submitted, to explain why she feels she is the most valuable student, showed leadership, responsibility, caring and giving aspects.

“Madeline seems to be portrayed as a positive light helping any way she can and giving back to her community. Madeline already is and will continue to be a great citizen of her community.

“We felt like Madeline was the best fit for the scholarship this year, although, all of the other applicants did an amazing job as well and it was a very hard decision to make.”

Madeline was presented with a scholarship check of $300 and a Certificate of Scholarship on May 15 in the County Clerk’s Office.
