Donald “Tom” Thomas Wood, 78, of Belle, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. 

Tom was born Aug. 8, 1945, in St. Louis, to the late Donnie and Annie (Huff) Wood.

He was united in marriage to Mary Grubbs, May 27, 1995 in St. Louis. Mary survives of their home near Belle.

Tom was an over the road truck driver for most of his life. He had been employed at Seal Test/ Peavley Dairy in St. Louis for 19 years and finished up at Conway in St. Louis for 15 years before retiring.

Tom and Mary moved to the Belle area in 2010 from St. Louis. His hobbies included fishing, shooting guns, and riding his motorcycle. Together with Mary they enjoyed going and staying in their RV at the Wildwood Resort on weekends when Tom was not working. He also loved watching John Wayne and westerns on TV, but his favorite times were spent with his children and especially his grandchildren. Tom will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by son, Jack Wood, infant daughter, Pamela Wood, brothers Charlie Wood and Roy Wood, and sister, Rachel Lester.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by sons, Wayne Wood and his wife Cassie of Park Hills, Danny Wood and his wife Robyn of Farmington, and Jimmy Wood and his wife Michelle of Park Hills; daughter, Teresa Freeman and her husband Don of Imperial; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister Betty Morgan and her husband Derek of St. Louis as well as three nephews, nine nieces and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation for Tom will be on Wednesday, Jan. 24 (today) 5-7 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, Jan.  25, at the Faith Baptist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Shepard Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, Mo. 

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of Donald T. Wood.
