VIENNA — Vic Stratman, presiding commissioner, announced at the Aug. 20 commission meeting that BuildTec Construction LLC, of St. James, will replace the current Fly Creek Bridge located on County Road 213.
Stratman said BuildTec was the lowest bidder on the Fly Bridge project instead of Brenneke Construction because the company “messed up” the bid and that MECO Engineering found some “discrepancies.”
When construction companies placed their bids at the July 6 commission meeting, Brenneke was the lowest at $646,855.50, but after MECO’s review, BuildTec’s bid of $721,407 was the lowest.
Maries County has been working with the Missouri Department of Transportation and MECO to replace the Fly Creek bridge on County Road 213, separate from the recently repaired Highway 42 bridge.
The bridge connects an eastern paved segment of Ballpark Road to the western gravel segment.
