Children raised to hate

Posted

Do you remember your first day of school? That experience was exciting and a little scary. Mrs. Cunningham was my kindergarten teacher. She taught us the alphabet and our numbers. I remember, her eyes were kind.

I enjoyed my 13 years in public school. It was a safe place to learn. For some of us, our only worry was being hassled and bullied by the older kids.

Dor Shachar has an entirely different story. He grew up in Gaza as a Palestinian. At 7-years old, he started attending a school run by the United Nations — United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) school.

In an interview with PragerU CEO Marissa Streit, Shachar shared a powerful testimony of his life in Gaza as a young boy, being raised by his parents and educated at school.

When Shachar was 3-years old, his grandfather sat him down and told him a story of how the Jews stole the land from the Palestinians. “When you grow up, you’ll murder them and return the land because this is your inheritance.”

His parents enrolled him in the UNRWA school at the age of 7. His dream was to become a doctor and help people. In school, just like me, he learned the alphabet and his numbers. Shachar related to Streit how he was taught math: “There are five Jews. We killed three. How many are left?”

Everyone was taught it is good to kill Jews. This was in a school run by the United Nations. Lessons included, “Whoever murders a Jew is guaranteed to go to heaven. If he’s murdered by a Jew, he becomes Shahid. He enters heaven and gets 72 virgins.”

When Shacar was not as excited as the other children about killing Jews, he was taken to the principal’s office, where, at 7-years old, he was whipped with a rubber hose because he “strayed from the path.”

When his father found out about Shachar’s actions, he beat him in front of his classmates.

Children in Gaza learn at a young age that killing Jews brings honor to the family. This was made evident when, on the Oct. 7 slaughter in Israel, the teenage murderers called home and said, “Father, open WhatsApp and see what I sent you. I’ve killed ten Jews, a husband and wife.”

Shachar stressed, “You need to understand that it’s the same with all schools, all teachers (in Gaza).”

After a few months, Schachar’s father transferred him to a new school that was close to an Israeli army camp. Before school, all the children and teachers would throw stones at the soldiers.

In Palestine, when a baby is born, Shachar relates, everyone says, “May God protect him and may one day he’ll become a batar…a hero. They put the baby on the floor with a knife next to him.” In Israel, families of new babies are told, “Congratulations, may you raise him in health and happiness.”

A 1-year old boy in Palestine, according to Shachar, starts out with toy weapons and pretends to beat and kill Jews. They are given real weapons to hold when they turn 6 or 7.

This is evil.

Schachar explained the history of hate after the Oslo Accords. “First, they threw stones at soldiers. This was the first generation. The second generation…they came with a knife and started stabbing. The third generation used explosives and started bombing. The fourth generation sent missiles.” The plan is for the fifth generation to conquer Israel.

After years of being brainwashed to hate, it is amazing that Shachar resisted.

Shachar was tortured as a young man for a year when it was learned he wanted to convert to Judaism. He eventually escaped to Israel and converted. Schachar is the Jewish name he chose for himself. It means “A new day, it’s dawn, and it’s beautiful.”

In Gaza, Shachar says, everyone is an extremist. There are no innocent civilians. Those who are not extremists have moved out.

Shachar explains why there are no innocents in Gaza. Speaking to Streit in the interview, he says, “They raised you on love, on peace. They raised me on hatred and murder. It’s difficult for you to get a grasp on this. If they raised you on hate and murder, you would understand me.”

Schachar’s last message was, “wake up (America) because you are next in line. It’s coming soon.”
