Carol Miller 1936-2025

Carol Ann (Rowden) Miller, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend of Dixon, Missouri, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 20, 2025, at the age of 88.

She was born Oct. 30, 1936 to the late Ovid and Jessie (McKee) Rowden in the Wheeler Community, near Vienna. 

She attended grade school at Wheeler School House through eighth grade and then attended and graduated from Vienna High School, where she was crowned as Vienna High School’s very first Homecoming Queen.  

After graduation, Carol worked as a secretary for the City of Dixon and for Dr. Dwight Parker, Chiropractor, before going to work at the State Bank of Dixon, first in bookkeeping and then later as a teller until her retirement at age 67.

Carol married the love of her life, Lewis James Miller Oct. 9, 1954.   Lewis and Carol were the proud parents of three children, Danny Miller and wife Lisa, Kenny Miller and wife Debbie and Susan Williamson and husband John. 

Carol and Lewis were lifelong lovers of Bluegrass music and traveled throughout Missouri and surrounding states, attending Bluegrass shows and festivals. They also enjoyed traveling with family and friends to various vacation locations, including Tennessee, Hawaii, Colorado, Vermont and New York. 

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in both Dixon and Wheeler. 

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, fostering a loving environment. Carol had a playful and competitive spirit, and she and Lewis enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. 

She was a woman of great faith and kindness and showed love to all who knew her.  

Carol was preceded in death by parents, Ovid and Jessie; brothers, Wilburn, Herbert and Harold Rowden; sisters, Doris (Rowden) Finn and Farris Jean (Rowden) Vaughan; and son, Kenny Miller.

She is survived by son, Danny Miller and wife Lisa; daughter, Susan Williamson and husband John; daughter-in-law, Debbie Miller; grandchildren, Nicholas Miller and wife Kayla, Britny Washburn and husband Stephen, Ryan Hollis and wife Annelise, Missy Miller, Emily Holtsclaw and husband Will, Alex Miller and wife Haley, John Williamson and wife Missy, Jeff Williamson, Keith Williamson and wife Sherry; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Carol was a devoted wife and the cornerstone of her family, showering them with unwavering love and support.

A memorial service was held, Saturday, Oct. 25, at the First Baptist Church in Dixon.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla.
