VIENNA — For weeks, travelers between Vienna and Argyle have been taking a longer route around a damaged bridge on Highway AA, which has been under construction. Now the work is nearly finished.
Crews have been replacing worn supports, reinforcing the deck and upgrading safety features to ensure the bridge will be strong and reliable for years to come. Officials say the project has been carefully planned so that traffic could keep moving safely, and the bridge is expected to reopen by the end of next week.
Once reopened, the bridge on Highway AA will reconnect Vienna and Argyle, restoring a familiar route that residents have relied on for years.
The project not only makes travel easier but also ensures the bridge will continue to serve the community for decades. The next steps after the AA bridge will be to work on Highway 42, west of Belle. MODOT has confirmed that Highway 42 will not close until Highway AA is open.
