BLAND — A Bland couple was killed in Crawford County on Aug. 8 at the intersection of State Highway 19, and Rural Routes CC and F when a crossing motorist in a 2017 Subaru Outback pulled out in front of them.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report (MSHP), Steven Cook, 60, and Sharon M. Cook, 59, of Bland, were traveling southbound around 2:50 p.m. along Highway 19 on a 2016 Harley Davidson.

A 2017 Subaru Outback operated by Patrice M. Davis, 60, of Cuba, was traveling eastbound on Route F preparing to cross Highway 19 to Route CC. The Subaru traveled into the path of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to collide with the left side of the Subaru.

Both the motorcycle’s occupants were ejected, and the Harley-Davidson traveled off of the left side of Highway 19 and came to a rest.

The Subaru rotated clockwise and traveled off the east side of Highway 19, colliding with a state sign support before coming to rest off of the roadway facing the northwest.

Steven Cook was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 p.m. by Crawford County Coroner D. Dake and released into the custody of the Crawford County Coroner’s Office.

Sharon Cook was pronounced dead at 4:41 p.m. at Missouri Baptist Hospital Sullivan by Dr. Brianna White and later released into the custody of the Crawford County Coroner’s Office.

Neither of the motorcycle’s occupants was wearing safety devices.

Davis, who was wearing a safety device, received minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by personal vehicle.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Chris and Sons Towing.

The MSHP crash was investigated by Msgt. A.B. Swearingin, assisted by Cpl. N.W. Summers and Cpl. B.J. Blankenberker.
