BELLE — The Maries County Sheriff’s Department has an ongoing investigation into the death of Steven Herron.

Herron, 66, of Belle, was found dead at the home of his former wife Donna Herron, according to Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman.

“The call came in on March 26 at noon, and the officer responded to a residence at the 500 block of South Alvarado Avenue in Belle,” Heitman said. “Herron was found in the bedroom of the residence. No foul play is suspected. Cause of death is still under investigation.”

Heitman said Steven Herron’s former wife Donna Herron reported the incident.

“That is the second death investigation that has recently happened at that location that is under investigation,” Heitman said. “Both deaths are still under active investigation.”

The second death was that of Greg Ockerman, 31, of Belle. Ockerman was found by a family member at the same residence on Feb. 27, 2020. Sheriff’s Deputy Scott John of the Belle Division said at the time that the death was “an apparent drug overdose.”
