Thomas M. Cruz, 30, of Belle, was arrested following a 2 a.m. traffic stop Tuesday and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputy Tanner Hinson in his probable cause statement noted that during an assist at Rt. EE and E. Woodland Drive in Belle, he and Cpl. Richard Jarvis, who had stopped a vehicle driven by Rolando A. Duron. A front passenger was identified as Krystle A. Cruz.
Duron granted consent to search the vehicle, and all three agreed to a search of their personal belongings.
A backpack owned by Thomas Cruz contained a glass smoking device, which tested positive for meth, a plastic straw, and a plastic baggie containing a white crystalline substance that also tested positive for meth.
Thomas Cruz was placed in custody and prior to a subsequent search of his person, he advised deputies that he had a pipe in his boot and a bag in his wallet. Both items were found, the latter containing 1.2 grams of meth.
He was transported to the Osage County Jail, where he was booked and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.
