Starting their season with only three golfers, Nate Lansford’s Belle Lady Tiger golf team picked up senior Aubrey Rehmert near the midway point of the their fall campaign giving them a full team to qualify for a team score.

That proved very beneficial last Wednesday during the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 1, District 2 Tournament at L.A. Nickell Golf Course in Columbia.

Led by senior Anastyn Lansford’s 18-hole round of 83, Belle High School’s (BHS) Girls Golf Team made school history claiming their first-ever district championship firing a team score of 398 to finish 10 strokes ahead of Harrisburg’s second-place total of 408.

“I knew we had a good chance to win a district title if we shot well,” Lady Tiger head golf coach Nate Lansford said. “I’m so proud of these girls seeing all of their hard work pay off with a trip to state.”

Anastyn Lansford’s round of 83 was good for second place individually in the tournament two strokes behind Whitfield Tina Zhang who carded an 18-hole round of 81.

“I shot 3-over par on the front nine and did not do well on my last four holes,” Lady Tiger senior Anastyn Lansford said. “After qualifying individually the past two years, I’m so happy that I’m able to enjoy my last trip to state having three teammates with me.”

One of those teammates is her younger sister in freshman Natalie Lansford who placed fourth in the tournament with an 18-hole round of 90.

“I’m excited that I’ll get to play with my sister at state,” Natalie Lansford said.

Three strokes shy of the top 10, sophomore Maddy Rhoads posted an 18-hole round of 106 good for 12th place last Wednesday.

Already a three-time individual district champion in the girls javelin, senior Aubrey Rehmert rounded out the state bound quartet of Lady Tiger golfers carding an 18-hole round of 119 good for 31st individually last Wednesday.

“I’m so happy Aubrey (Rehmert) joined the team to help us be able to win a district title and be able to move on to compete at state,” Natalie Lansford said.

Joining Zhang and the Lady Tigers as individual state qualifiers out of MSHSAA Class 1, District 2 were Eugene’s Clover Moss (3rd, 84), New Franklin’s Madison Bradshaw (T-5th, 98), Harrisburg’s Izabella Twenter-Savvenas (T-5th, 98), Glasgow’s Karsyn Massie (T-5th, 98), Whitfield’s Kayla Sellers (T-5th, 98), Harrisburg’s Poppy Spry (9th, 102), Harrisburg’s Elin Van Roekel (11th, 103), Westran’s Hayven Fuemmeler (T-13th, 107), Glasgow’s Maylen Parks (T-13th, 107), Harrisburg’s Harley Smith (T-13th, 107), Fayette’s Eastin Hill (T-13th, 107), Eugene’s Adalynn Anderson (17th, 108), Columbia Independent’s Gracie Anderson (18th, 109), Russellville’s Bella Maharas (19th, 110), Cairo’s Kylee Fish (20th, 111), St. Pius X’s (Festus) Maggie Krutzsch (T-21, 112) and Tipton’s Alice Bestgen (T-21st, 112).

Belle’s state bound quartet of golfers will compete on Monday, Oct. 20 and Tuesday, Oct. 21 during the MSHSAA Class 1 Girls Golf Championships at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton.

Monday tee times for the four state bound Lady Tigers were not available at press time.
