During a special meeting on April 21 called by the Belle Mayor Steve Vogt, aldermen accepted the resignation of Marshal Joe Turnbough and created new workplace policies.

During the April 13 city meeting, Turnbough declared that he would be submitting his resignation letter to the mayor on Friday, April 16. Since aldermen were already planning a special meeting to discuss personnel policies on April 21, the marshal’s resignation was added to the agenda.

Turnbough submitted his letter to Vogt on April 16 as planned. According to the letter, his last day as an elected official will be June 1.

Aldermen voted 4-0 to approve the resignation of the marshal at his assigned date. City officials are unsure at this time how or if they will fill the vacancy.

Aldermen also created personnel policies that have been sent to the city’s attorney to be approved.
