Bears, Tigers post top-10 finishes at Cuba Invitational

Last Wednesday at Hood Park during the Cuba Invitational Cross Country meet, seven runners from Bland Middle School and Belle High School posted top-10 finishes during their respective races.

Extending his winning streak to seven races, Bland’s Jackson Prater won the middle school boys race with a winning time of 9:26.80 followed in second place by teammate Michael Felton in a time of 9:47.20.

Also helping the Bears place second as a team behind Vienna were Alden Zabel (13th, 11:14.90), Ryker Huebner (29th, 12:51.10), Tharon Kent (31st, 13:02.50), Treyton Huebner (32nd, 13:20.70) and Braxton Elrod (48th, 16:36.80).

Skylar Stevens led Bland’s Lady Bears with a fourth-place time of 12:06.30 followed by teammates Gracelyn Jarvis (13th, 12:56.70), Marianne Francis (17th, 13:20.90) and Cora Langston (22nd, 14:19.20).

During varsity boys action, Belle’s quartet of varsity Tigers made up a third of the top 12 led by Malachi Fredendall’s eighth-place time of 19:26.10.

Rounding out the top 12 was the Belle trio of Coltin Hazelwood (10th, 19:48.20), David Skaggs (11th, 19:52.80) and Connor Weigel (12th, 20:00.00).

Ellanor Kent showed the way for Belle’s Lady Tigers in the varsity girls race with a fifth-place time of 23:18.80 followed closely by Kenadie Bailey’s seventh-place time of 23:56.10.

Saylor Kent (23rd, 29:03.00) and Allania Moore (25th, 29:23.10) rounded out Belle’s contingency of Lady Tiger harriers at Cuba.

Belle Cross Country compete last night (Tuesday) in the Hermann Invitational and will also compete in the Licking Cross Country Invitational tomorrow (Thursday) along with their Bland counterparts.
