BCBA’s Fourth Annual Father-Daughter Dance continues wholesome family tradition

BELLE — The Belle Community Betterment Association’s (BCBA) 4th Annual Father-Daughter Dance was held on Saturday at the Belle-Bland Community Center, an event meant to celebrate the bond between fathers and daughters.

Ryan Scott, a lifelong resident of Belle and local business owner, praised the BCBA for seeing the need in the community for family-oriented events and stepping up to provide ones like this to bring the town together.

Scott said his daughter Lucie asked him to attend the inaugural dance.

“It’s been a tradition between me and my daughter since the first one,” said Scott. “There are so few things to do as a  family around here. These folks have made it something we look forward to every year.”

Scott also mentioned how other people have embraced the new tradition.

“People talk about things like this. I look around here tonight and see a lot of people that have been at each of these like me,” said Scott. “It’s special. It’s something just for dads and their girls.”

BCBA member Jessica Barbarick said she heard one little girl say that it was her fourth year coming to the event. The same girl also said she didn’t know how they were going to make next year any better.

BCBA President Mark McClane said he was proud of the work the organization does throughout the year and pointed to the efforts of its members to make events like the Annual Father-Daughter Dance successful.

McClane said the dedication involved in creating and hosting community-orientated events can seem overwhelming and that it takes people working together who want to see the town prosper.

BCBA provided snacks and music for the event and also held drawings for prizes. The organization also had a photo booth so fathers and daughters could capture memories together. Many of those in attendance also took advantage of the booth to get pictures taken with their friends.

The BCBA has a collection of photos posted on its Facebook page.
