The Belle Community Betterment Association (BCBA) received a $1,189.52 check from Accenture, the Blackbaud Giving Fund, in honor of Kathy Stanfield who died Dec. 11, 2021, following a long illness.

Kathy Stanfield’s son James Stanfield works for Accenture, which is based out of Alexandria, WV.

“The employees took up a collection and the company will match the funds up to $500,” James Stanfield said after the check was presented and added that another check with the matched amount may be forthcoming.

Accenture is a company that is considered a world leader in business and information technology (IT) consulting, according to the company’s description. James Stanfield said he was not included in the process to take up a collection in honor of his mother, but was asked for input on where the money should be sent in her honor.

“I think she was passionate about helping the community and I am glad my company helped further her vision,” James Stanfield said.

Kathy Stanfield’s husband Ken Stanfield was present to accept the check with BCBA members Stacey Kelly and Vicky Nielsen.

“I thought it was awful nice of them,” Ken Stanfield said. “How would you suspect they’d get wind of this? My son works for their company. I’m proud of him.”

Nielsen said the funds have already been designated to a project that Kathy Stanfield felt passionately about.

“We are designating this to the Flag Park fund because Kathy really wanted to see that done,” Nielsen said. “Kathy was very active in BCBA.”
