VIENNA — Vicki Bade, a former Maries R-1 School Board President, has been elected once again to the leadership role of the R-1 board.
At the special meeting June 15 to reorganize the board, current board president, Cindy Petershagen, was not nominated because she told her fellow board members she may not be able to complete her new school board term due to purchasing a farm in another school district. At this time, however, she continues to live in the Maries R-1 School District. Superintendent Mark Parker said he consulted the school attorney who said she is eligible to serve on the school board until she moves out of the school district. At that point, the board will need to appoint an individual to take her place.
Petershagen said she would do whatever the board wanted her to do. Bade suggested they discuss it in executive session, saying they should be diligent and make a decision based on state statute. No motions were made in executive session that evening.
During the reorganization, Parker asked for nominations for school board president. Board member Mike Kleffner nominated Vicki Bade and Dave Garro gave the second and she was unanimously elected.
Dave Long nominated current board vice president Penny Schoene to remain in that poison and Garro gave the second and she was reelected.
Terry Snodgrass of The Maries County Bank is the board treasurer and Beth Hollis is the board secretary.
