Archie Doyle Feeler, Jr., of Rolla, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at the age of 98.
He was born Nov. 6, 1924, to the late Arch Feeler and Eliza Rebecca (Ballance) Feeler in Maries County.
He was united in marriage to Maxine Iva (Williams) Feeler, June 1, 1947, in Iberia. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2015.
Archie loved coon hunting and drawing animals in birthday cards for his grandkids. He was a gifted storyteller. He began making molasses in 1978 and was deemed to be the best molasses maker in Missouri by state legislators. Archie was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and, previously, Spring Creek Baptist Church. He was a believer and lived out his faith. Archie loved helping people. He was also a proud Marine. Archie loved to pick wildflowers and take them to his daughters. He loved his family, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by parents, Arch and Eliza; wife, Maxine; sons, Vernon Mark Feeler in 1955 and Wayne Edward Feeler, Sr. in 2014; grandsons, Russell Feeler and Mike Akridge, son-in-law, Joe Akridge; sisters, Lucy Spencer, Opal Feeler and Ethel Halbert; and brothers, Gene Feeler, Hubert Feeler, Gale Feeler, Robert Feeler, Merle Feeler and Loyd Donald Feeler.
Archie will be greatly missed by surviving family which includes son, Russell Feeler of Springfield; daughters, Judy Akridge, Connie Elrod and husband Dwayne, and Mary Kaye Sutton and husband Paul all of Rolla; daughter-in-law, Roberta Feeler of Rolla; sister, Fern Jones of Rolla; sisters-in-law, Becky Feeler and Geri Williams; grandchildren, Wayne Feeler, Tammy Hayes, Tony Rowe, Troy Rowe, Kristin Feeler, Michael Feeler, Rod Bexten, Chad Elrod, Todd Elrod, April Holtmeyer, Kayla Wooldridge, Tyler Birdsong, MacKensie Birdsong, Taylor Robinson and Cameron Sutton; great-grandchildren, Kara Cross, Tess Jay, Savannah Feeler, Josh Tilley, Cody Tilley, Joey Akridge, Ashlyne Ross, Zach Rowe, Nathan Rowe, Lizzy Rowe, Gunner Shanks, Bradley Feeler, Gavin Feeler, Kaden Feeler, Kaleb Feeler, Ian Bexten, Kieren Bexten, Cash Holtmeyer, Iva Holtmeyer, Callen Holtmeyer, Enoch Elrod, Skyler Elrod, Elijah Elrod, Theo Elrod, Lilly Elrod, Rose Elrod, Desmon Workman, Mariah Wooldridge, Brighton Wooldridge, Liam Birdsong, Bodhi Birdsong and Oaklynn Sutton; and great-great-grandchildren, Parker, Kennedy, Bristol, Emory, Camden, Harper, Axel, Delilah, Makynlee, Marlo, James, Charlotte, Dylan and Vincent.
Funeral services for Archie D. Feeler, Jr., were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment was in Davis Cemetery.
Memorials suggested to the Davis Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla.
