Alan Christian Michel, 84, of Owensville, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at his daughter’s home in LaBarque Creek.

He was born May 24, 1939, to Leland and Eleanor (Warden) Michel in Owensville.

He married Rev. Dorothy Lairmore Michel, Jan. 19, 1991, at Zion UCC Church in Bay. They shared 27 happy years together until her death March 17, 2018.

Alan graduated from Owensville High in 1957, Central Methodist College in Fayette in 1961, and from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City in 1964. He worked for the State of Missouri as a counselor with the Vocational Rehabilitation Division. He was there for 35 years before he retired in 2000. He pastored many churches through the years, but his most recent pastoring was at LeDuc Little Country Church located near Bland. He truly found a home at this church and it was a blessing for him.

Alan loved watching westerns with his brother Bruce and spending time with his cats. He loved collecting many things, especially model trains.

He was preceded in death by parents, Leland and Eleanor; wife, Dorothy; siblings, Neil Michel, Carl Michel, Gordon Huff and Faith Huff Glawson.

He is survived by children, Cynthia Roesch and husband Michael of LaBarque Creek, Catherine Michel and Cassandra Michel and wife Amanda Clifton all of St. Louis; grandson, Benjamin Roesch and wife Tessa of St. Charles; great-grandson, Leon Roesch; grandson, Daniel Roesch of Maarsen, the Netherlands; siblings, Bruce Michel and wife Jean of Owensville and Joan Corrie of Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Joan Lee Michel of Jackson, Tenn.; and close family friend, James Tieszen of St. Louis.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 26 at 10:00 a.m. at LeDuc Little Country Church with Pastor Mike Stockton officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the church.
