Winfred Drewel 1932-2026

Winfred L. (Buck) Drewel, 93, Belle, passed away May 7, 2026.

He was born on June 5, 1932, to the late Henry and Annabelle (Givens) Drewel.

He was united in marriage on Jan. 10, 1953, to Erma Morgan in Searcy, Ark.

A lifelong resident of the Belle-Bland community, Buck began his hog and then cattle farming career by buying a farm along Dry Fork in 1956.

Having begun in 1950, he continued working at the International Shoe Company until it’s closure in 1980. During those 30 years Buck missed two years while serving in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.

He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Annabelle; sisters,  Melba Drewel, Mildred Givens, Norma Garver and Almo Baer; brothers,William (Bill), Delmar (Dink), Elmer (Bunny), Marvin and Charles Drewel.

Buck is survived by wife of 73 years, Erma; daughter, Debbie Dewel of Belle; sons, Dwayne of Owensville and Douglas and wife Rhonda of Belle; granddaughter, Rachel Drewel of Bland; and sisters, Velma Malawy of St. Louis, Edna Weatherford of Union and Doris Schneidewind of Owensville.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 11, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle. Interment was in Skaggs Cemetery.
